Jamaican Peanut Porridge
Porridge is a big part
of Jamaican culture. I don’t know if in other countries they drink as much porridge
or place as much emphasis on porridge. (Please let me know in your comments.)
In Jamaica, porridge is a must have for
babies and especially persons who are convalescent. There are as many types of
porridges as you can imagine, however, the most popular are
1) Cornmeal
Porridge
2) Plantain or Banana Porridge
3) Peanut Porridge
4) Hominy Corn
Porridge
5) Oats porridge with Foska Oats being one of the most popular oats in
Jamaica.
Porridge is synonymous with good health. The porridge is
easy to digest hence it is used as a great starter food for babies, especially
cornmeal porridge.
Now we are on the
subject of Peanut porridge. This is a porridge mostly consumed by Ital Food lovers
and is considered an aphrodisiac.
How to Prepare Peanut
Porridge
Soak peanuts
overnight.
Blend peanuts and then
cook like a regular porridge.
Be sure to add some coconut milk and then your
spices to suit your taste.
